AND child predators ACT when opportunities arise, they have urges they TRY to supress. But when kids are out and about in the spring, sometimes they end up in the wrong place, at the wrong time.
In the last few weeks, 5 central florida children have told police a “stranger” has tried to abduct them. Four were able to run away, but one 11 year-old was kidnapped and raped in an abandoned house.
Safety advice is everywhere right now and I just read a newspaper article with the usual instructions:
1. Avoid getting into a car with a stranger at all costs.
2. If possible, children should run.
3. If they are physically over-powered, they should fight back or…
And for this post, I have added my two cents, with a “number 4″ for children everywhere, right below:
4. Sit down and “grip” something, so he can’t MOVE you.
It has been 19 years since I first taught my first “never let someone move you from the FIRST place” principles called Grip, Dip & Spin. My goal was to make it as well known as “Stop, Drop and Roll”.
