Sometimes punching stuff feels good (and is good for your whole body).
Before you watch my boxer’s workout video, I want you to know that I don’t think I am tough. Below are pictures of real strength, my son Andrew and wife Julie, one month after she donated a kidney to him.
Just like in boxing and in life, it’s not a matter of IF you are going to get hit, it’s a matter of WHEN and do you get back up or not. I’ve used a boxer’s workout to develop self-confidence since I was a kid…
And now I do it to avoid exercise burnout, because it happens no matter WHAT we do, you know what I mean? Here’s a quick video that a friend filmed when I was 45, showing how I knockout stress today.
If you live in Cincinnati, and think a boxer’s workout might be a fit for you and/or your kids, drop me a line at 364-2702 (or John@KidEscape.org) and we can brainstorm ideas, just to see what’s possible.
In the meantime, I thought I’d share this crazy little thing I tell myself that’s helped me over the years…
Do you know the secret to sticking with a regular exercise plan? It is a “constructively psychotic” mind trick that is simple. Tell yourself this, “I will workout when I don’t feel like it.” Did you just say, “What?”.
Here’s the thing, most of the time we are NOT in the mood to exercise. So if we CREATE a mental link inside our brains that ACCEPTS this, it’s amazing what happens, when we don’t feel like it, we DO it.
